Joy of Home – Lesson 21

:  Prepare.  You may only have this year.

The bible says, “Do your best, prepare for the worst then trust GOD to bring victory.”  (Proverbs 21:31; MSG)

Recently there was a terrorist attack in Russia by Isis.  Will there be terrorist attacks in Canada and the United States?  Yes, but we don’t know when.   There are sleeping cells across both nations, as both countries have open borders.

There is an election in the United States in November.

Whoever wins, it is going to be messy.

Prophet after prophet, are saying this as the months pass, prepare.   The businessmen are saying prepare.  The homesteaders are saying prepare.  The farmers are saying prepare.  Prepare for what?

In Canada, on April first the carbon tax increased yet again, costing the average household another $377 to $911 this year.  This means everything from fuel to groceries is going to increase in cost.  On June 1st, British Columbia is raising the minimum wage to $17.40, which means another price increase.  We are not the only province that is raising wages.

Not only are prices going up because of increased taxes and wages, chocolate is going up due to heavy rains and diseases.  Prices are approximately 65% higher than last year.

In the United States, they are warning beef prices are going to increase due to drought and high cost of supplies.  I buy my meat from the butcher shop, but their pricing is comparable to grocery stores, I purchased a 5-pound roast for serving our house guests before Easter dinner, and a chuck roast, cost me $50.00.

The National Post wrote, “The 14th annual report by four universities estimates that the annual food expenditure for a family of four will hit $16,297.20 in 2024, an increase of $701.79 from this year.”  (Dated December 7, 2023)   The Washington Post says that over the last four years, food has increased 25%.  It is also noted that dollar stores are struggling to keep food on the shelves as demand has increased; however, experts are concerned because much of what they offer is prepackaged, low nutrient value and high in sugar.

There is so much fear talk of shortages that people have posted lists of food that people should hoard.  Maybe where you are, you have a problem with some shortages, but I haven’t really noticed too much.  We still have rice, sugar, coffee, and beef in the stores.  I have noticed some organic foods are getting harder to find.

We all know things are going to get tougher as food prices keep going up.  It aggravates me that healthy food is so much higher than junk food.  But there are things we can do to ease the load on our pocketbooks.  As we discussed earlier, things are going to be messy for a while, especially after November 2024.

Not only do we have the WHO meeting in May to sign papers to oversee and take control in countries around the world during the next pandemic, we have the “bird flu” affecting the cattle herds in the United States.

BUY WHAT YOU ABSOLUTELY NEED FIRST, THEN BUY EXTRAS.  Even if all you can buy for extras is a few cans of soup, or stew, buy them.  If you purchase five extras every two weeks, that is 10 extras a month, or 120 extras a year.   Those 120 items will probably be cheaper in 2024 than 2025.  When you purchase for storage, watch for due dates, which are not toss out dates, as cans will last years after the date, and most products if unopened and stored properly will last another year.

BUY ONLY WHAT YOU WILL EAT.  If you hate rice, don’t buy 20 pounds of it because it’s on sale and lasts almost forever.   Don’t buy all junk food and instant food unless you enjoy chemicals and toxins.   I also know that many people are on fixed incomes and rely on food banks to supplement their food or supply all their food.  But these tricks are for you as well.

USE THOSE STORE PRIVILAGE CARDS AND SHOP SALES, BUT ONLY BUY WHAT YOU WILL USE.  I shop from the bargain bins first.  Often, I will find good deals on items that I will use.  Watch due dates, dinted cans, and torn bags.

KNOW WHEN YOUR GROCERY STORE DISCOUNTS THEIR MEAT AND PRODUCE.  Learn how to preserve these foods.

Invest your money wisely.  Buy that canner or pressure canner, and stock up on canning jars and fill them.   Even if you need to invest with other family members, do so.  Invest in a dehydrator.

Take a few minutes over the next week and investigate what the financial experts are saying about a coming market crash.  It is coming from the mouths of bankers, businesspeople, prophets, and stock market analysts.  Some say a crash will come in 2024, others predict it will come in 2025 and flow through until 2026.  They are not calling it a recession; they are calling it a depression.  I heard a prophet say, it will be worse than the 1930s.

If it is true, and the world tanks, our supply chain will crash.  We are dependent upon China for much of our clothing, electronics, and medicine.   If the world collapses, we will lose many of our food sources.   If people start to get hungry, we are not in the time of the 1930s, but in today’s world, people will riot and break into stores and shops and steal.  People will demand their rights and privileges and will take what is not theirs.   If you are not prepared, you might be one of those people out in the riot and not make it home.

I pray that this never happens.  I pray against it, yet we know that our governments have overspent our money on stupid stuff and continue to pressure us for more money.   People are going further into debt, many are delinquent on their payments on credit cards, mortgages, and personal loans.  I wager to guess, most people have no idea what is happening out there, as the truth is being suppressed and not being reported.  The governments in the United States are taking farmers rights away to produce food.  Did you know that?

You need to take responsibility for you and your family and prepare.  You can’t rely on the government to look after you any longer.

If you are still on the fence about preparedness, just think about the recent earthquake in New York.  Praise God, there was very little damage, but it could have been much worse.

THINGS TO DO:

  • Educate yourself on what is happening in the world.  How does the war in Israel effect you?  (a hint, stand with Israel)  What will the ‘bird flu’ do to the meat supply?  Is the water in your area being restricted so you cannot water your vegetable garden and crops? (this is really happening in many states of the USA)
  • Learn to garden.  Get your lawn dug up or invest in a vertical garden or even buy a couple kiddie pools and start gardening.
  • Start keeping ‘real’ money hidden away in your house.
  • Buy extras and make sure you have a first aide kit, candles, matches, and water.
  • Get out of debt.

Not all people want peace to come to our planet.  Not all people want to see all the children in the World well fed and educated in truth.  The prophets say we are in a time of Noah.  Noah built an ark that took 80 to 120 years to build, but he saved his family.  Are you building an ark for your family?  Will they be on the boat you built even if they think you are crazy in this hour.  Will you just barely survive whether we have a recession or depression, or a full-on World War, which would happen on our soil this time.  We have sleeping cell groups and a huge population that knows nothing more than greed and video games.  Gangs roam the streets now, agents of other countries are working in our governments and supply chains just waiting, and our military is divided and ill prepared for war.  Build the ark for you and your family, otherwise all that you will have is a plank to hold onto.

I pray we don’t receive a recession or depression for our countries leader’s mistakes and foolishness, but at the same time, we are broke and broken.
